Lauren Walsh is a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and writer-editor. A process-centered educator, Lauren treats her students with dignity and warmth. Her evidence-based methods help students make impressive measurable gains, better understand how their brains relate to the science of reading, and see that their hard work does indeed pay off.
Lauren began Firefly Reading Boston to help individuals realize their potential, and feel the immense confidence that comes with being an effective reader and speller in a language-driven world. Her relational approach to Wilson Reading instruction is guided by the martial arts maxim, “spirit first, technique second.”
Lauren is a professional member of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). She earned her M.Phil in Irish Writing (Literature) with first class honors from Trinity College Dublin, and her B.A. from Wellesley College. At Wellesley, she double-majored in English and Peace & Justice Studies, with an independent focus on school-based inequities and humanizing educational methods.
In addition to offering Wilson Reading instruction, Lauren is an experienced writing coach and editor who guides clients through their academic and professional application processes, from middle school to medical school. Specializing in personal statements, essays, and interviewing, she has coached young people, businesspeople, creatives, educators, engineers, doctors, and diplomats. Lauren adores collaborating with clients to best communicate the story of their purpose and potential in a formal context, and aims to shine a light on the singularity of each person’s essence.
A North Shore native, Lauren has lived and worked in Taipei, Dublin, and Boston, and has enjoyed supporting students and professionals of all ages for over fifteen years.
